SERVING OUR COMMUNITY FOR OVER 76 YEARS
HISTORY - The Newmarket Lions Club was chartered on February 14, 1931. The Newmarket Lions Hall was previously located at 375 Darcy Street, but was destroyed by fire in August 2005.
The Newmarket Lions Clubs long standing projects include the Newmarket Lions Music Festival, (Since 1960) which has grown to be one of the largest music festivals in Ontario, and the Newmarket Lions Santa Fund (since the 1930s) which provides Christmas Food Vouchers to families in need. The Newmarket Lions Club has previously raised funds for the the Fairmead School, a number of wading pools, projects such as the original Whipper Billy Watson Pool, in 1976, and a grand piano for the Newmarket Theatre when the theatre opened in 1996. The Newmarket Lions Club also fund aids for those who are differently able, in cases where governments and insurance companies don't. Newmarket Lions members also assist other agencies that Lions Clubs partner with, such as the Salvation Army, The Canadian Diabetes Association, and CNIB, when it comes to community fundraising events.
