Tonight our club took in a new member, Lion Ashley Hesson, who is the granddaughter of Lions Roger and Bernice Hesson. She was sworn in by state secretary Lion John Pinkerman. Next her sponsor, Lion Bernice, pinned Lion Ashley. Then she was presented her certificate of membership. The final picture is self-explanatory. Our club welcomes this young Lion. We look forward to her service in our club.

To honor two former Barboursville Lions Club members, Lion Jack Artrip and Lion Jim Earls, we had our second annual Barboursville Lions Club Memorial Apple Butter Day on Novermber 1, 2008, at the lot located on the corner of Depot and Main Street next to the railroad crossing. Lion Roger Hesson was the chairman for this project.
Our club president, Lion Gerald Sturgeon, helped stir the apple butter. He really looked like he had done this before.
VDG Earl Jackson also came by to stir. Our club really appreciates his "can-do" attitude.
