    1. What is RSS? - Top

The initials RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. When you visit a website, RSS is shown by the display of a familiar orange logo with the letters RSS. If you have special RSS Reader software on your computer, you can subscribe to the RSS feed for that website (and others). For the subscriber, the RSS feed will provide alerts and messages of updates and new information. - Updated: April 17, 2007

This is much simpler than having to managing e-mail lists and sending out reminders and news stories all the time. When all of a club’s members subscribe to the RSS feed at LionWAP, they can become informed, just by turning on their computer, and opening the RSS feed program.

Club members should subscribe to http://rss.lionwap.org/username (where username is the Username for that club's webpage).

Everyone has different preferences. There are countless programs to display RSS feeds. The new Windows Vista includes RSS with Internet Explorer.  Some like a desktop tool. Others like a special toolbar. Others just want a simple list.

Add new information to the RSS feed frequently. Include a summary of a major website change. Include Upcoming meetings and activities. Add News story brief about anything that is happening NOW.

Add announcements to the feed through rssfeed.lionwap.org. Just login with your club’s username and password, and type.

Add a headline and summary of your Lions Club webpage update in the RSS fields that appears on your website’s edit page. This short summary will be added to your club’s RSS feed to describe the change. So let’s say that you uploaded some new photos…. Just type “Photos of the June 14th Pancake Breakfast added to website” in the RSS heading field and “Photos include President Jim and local politicians that came to support our club’s efforts” Lions will then be informed of that change, and go LOOK. - Updated: April 17, 2007
