    1. Does Lionwap.org support MS FrontPage file extensions? - Top

    No - Updated: October 1, 2001

    2. Can my web page use a subdomain? - Top

    The full question was:
I made our club website with the name "liondevkinandantulsian".
I want our club website name "lionsclubjhunjhunu.in" in place of liondevkinandantulsian.

LionWAP cannot provide subdomains such as this. Our system cannot work with a PERIOD in a username.

We recommend a simple naming convention that includes your town or city name and two letter state or country code. Using the word "Lions" in the name would repeat that word, since our Domain is LionWAP.

In this case, I recommend that your club be named:
JhunjhunuIN but you may use any name that you wish.

In the Club Name field, please use the name
Jhunjhunu Lions Club. That way, your club will be listed in Alphabetic order with the other clubs of your country.
    See http://www.lionwap.org/links?Country=India

If you have already made a page at LionWAP, please ask me to CHANGE the name, if you have changed your mind. Please email me at dan@lionwap.org

    3. How can I join LionWAP? - Top

If you are a member of a Lions Club and wish to make a web page for your club at LionWAP, just follow these instructions to get started.

    1. Go to http://www.lionwap.org/

    2. Leave the Username and Password field blank the first time, and click on "New User"

    3. Read the next page of instructions and click on "Continue" at the bottom of the page.

    4. Fill in the fields that are RED in color. You can leave the other fields blank for the first time. But be sure to fill in additional details after your account has been approved.

    You will need to know:
Lions Club Name, Country that your club is in, President's Name, Webmaster's Name and email address (your name), then enter a Username, which should be your Club name with state or country two letter code (without spaces) and finally, a password.

    4. I enter username and password...what do I do next? - Top

    Your whole question was:

I am trying to create a web page on hhtp://www.lionwap.org/index.html
My question is when I go in and put my username and password...what do I do next? If I hit new user, it says it cannot find what I have put in...I was told that it would take a couple of days before it was loaded. I am at a loss as what to do.

You should go to lionwap.org and hit NEW USER. (You do not need to enter a Username or password the first time).

Read and scroll to the bottom of the Instruction page and click on CONTINUE.

This will present the entire club page form, where you simply fill in the blanks. Be sure to fill in the RED fields. On your first try, you might just enter the Necessary fields. This will get you an early start.

While the Country and State fields are not marked as red, please select the Country and State that applies to you.

We show states for the USA, Canada, Australia and most of England. Let us know through this FAQ section if you need another state name added to our list.

    5. What does it mean when it says "email address submitted was invalid,or could be in transition?" - Top

The Webmaster's email address field is validated for our service by your internet provider. In many cases, the provider will not validate the email address. If we validate your email address, this will reduce the number of errors in something as important as your email address. The best way to insure that we can contact you is if you can use an alternate email address that can be validated.

Unfortunately, when you have filled out the form and the email address validation fails, your work is not submitted and you must start all over. I recommend that you fill in only the REQUIRED information on your first try. - Updated: March 6, 2001

    6. It does not accept my email address. - Top

    LionWap.org uses real-time & real email validation.
This means your email address is validated from your ISP.
If your ISP is too busy at that time, it may not have answered quick enough.
If your email is correct try later or use a different "Real Email" address.
In some cases, an email address is too long for the LionWAP database. The
field length has been lengthened to accommodate nearly all email addresses.

    7. Server busy error - Top

Up to now only two AOL.com users asked for this.
After 39% of submitting process it says that server busy.
Everyday one or two clubs submit a new page and approx. 10-15 clubs edits
    their page.

LionWap.org is in USA. But, as the administrator, I manage it from Turkey.
Up to now I have never encountered this error.

    8. When I click on submit, the transferring of the document freezes at 39%. - Top

Try making a very basic page with just the Mandatory information. It is possible that one of the fields that you entered contained too much text.

Once we approve the site, you will then be able to edit the page and add those details.

If you discover a field that is too short, please let us know. It might make sense for us to expand LionWAP to allow the text that you wish. We may be added an FAQ to outline the field size maximums to avoid this problem.

    9. Can I link a web site to lionwap.org? - Top

    Yes you can.

Proceed as if you are making a LionWAP web page following the instructions carefully.

Add your existing web site address in the field provided.

In the Template field, use Autorefresh Forwarder.

    1. Your new LionWAP webpage will automatically go your regular web site.
    2. You will have a LionWAP web address as an alternative
    3. Your LionWAP page will be viewable on a Cell Phone with WAP compatibility.

Please join us at LionWAP whether you have a web page or not.

    10. Can I add a link to my District webpage - Top

Yes, If you have a District web page and wish to add it to our listing, you can create a LionWAP page that uses the Autorefresh Forwarder feature.

For instance, your District is www.lions322b2.org (Lions International District 322B2).

    1. Create a new page with the username
    lion322b2
This will result in a webpage at LionWAP that is similar to your existing web page name.

    2. Instead of a Club Name, use District 322-B2

    3. Instead of club president, enter your District Governor's name. You might add the email address also. But indicate the title "District Governor"

    3. Add information about your District in the RED fields and add your webpage in the indicated field as http://www.lions322b2.org

Keep in mind that while the new web page will go to your existing page, WAP devices will display the LionWAP page as you entered it.

    11. Can I use MS-Frontpage to submit web pages to this service? - Top

No, LionWAP.org provides only template based web pages.

If you wish to be a part of LionWAP, you are welcome to use our system to use our free Domain Name and be listed in our Lions Club directory. See the FAQ section titled “About Editing existing pages”.

There are many free “full service” web page services on the internet, but they have long internet addresses. Combining this free service with our free Domain Name, your costs still remain at ZERO.

    12. May I use more than one page ? - Top

If you left "template" field blank,
your page will look like the prototype page.
But there are two more options for now.
    TR=Frame Emulation but not framed
    TA=Framed version
    And you may also use
FR and AK templates for forwardings.
You can find last minute info about this option
when submitting or editing your page at bottom of that page. - Updated: January 29, 2001

    13. May I use HTML tags - Top

You can use only certain tags in certain fields.
    Please refer http://www.lionwap.org/allowed.html

    14. Is email included with my LionWAP page? - Top

One email address is included with your LionWAP web page.

    The email address is
    username@lionwap.org

in the same way that your web page address is
    http://username.lionwap.org
    or www.lionwap.org/username

This email address simply redirects to the email address that is specified in the WebMaster email address field. Be sure that this is always set to your correct email address.

We are managed by volunteers. Providing free webpages is enough. I encourage you to find other free internet resources for email and such. Please tell us when you have a problem.

You MUST tell us, or change your email address at your LionWAP page when it changes.

    15. How do I set LionWAP to redirect to my existing page? - Top

Add your clubs's URL very carefully in the "Club Web URL" field. Then set the TEMPLATE to "Autorefresh Forwarder".

Be sure to test your LionWAP change, so that it really goes to your website.

Your WAP version page will still appear on a Cell Phone, so be sure to maintain that correctly.

You may still use your LionWAP page's Group Email feature. See this FAQ section for details. - Updated: October 1, 2001
