    1. I do not want to use predefined templates. - Top

You do not have to use predefined templates.
Create your page freely using a Web Editor like frontpage or any other editor.
Copy this code into Activities field.
And Select "Use only Activities Field" as a template.
That is all. You will have a freely designed web page.
You can still use your Guestbook if you add necessary code in this freely designed Web Code. - Updated: September 29, 2001

    2. Can I use pictures that do not exist at LionWap ? - Top

YES, LionWAP allows you to add ten Pictures.

See the detailed section on the Photo Album.

LionWap.org offers template based web pages.
Backgrounds, musics, logos, bullets are predefined.

But we can add more examples.

Please mail me if you prefer different pictures etc. I will add them. - Updated: November 12, 2001

    3. Do you allow cgibin scripts? - Top

First, let me tell the others what you have asked. A so-called “cgibin script” is a program that can be run on an internet service for the web page visitor. Example include a “response form”, “guest book”, “message board”. There are many other examples, but I hope that you get the idea.

LionWAP is a very simple web service, providing no more fancy features than when you see. It is a simple “fill in the blank” style, but does permit you to select logos, backgrounds, music and other features that are a part of the system. We will be adding additional features in the future that all Lions will be able to select from.

    4. How do I add a second picture? - Top

LionWAP allows you to upload TEN photos. See our FAQ on the Photo Album feature.

You can use HTML code in the Activities or Announcements field that adds that photo from another website.

    Code like this will work:

    <P><IMG SRC="http://www.ctlions.org/weservct.gif"

    WIDTH=HEIGHT=78></p>

    5. How does the SOUND feature work? - Top

LionWAP contains a number of so-called MIDI files, which you may select for your page. Most computers can play from three or more different sound sources: sound files (WAV), MIDI files (MID or MDI) and CD Music. MIDI files actually control a sound synthesizer that is integrated into the sound card on your computer. This is a very small, but can sound very rich, depending on the type of synthesizer that is inside your computer.

When you select a Sound file for your web page, this becomes available to the visitor at your website. However, some people have trouble with web pages that have sound; so when your page is first loaded, the sound it TURNED OFF. A small sound controller appears on your page, so that the visitor can TURN IT ON if they wish.

Why would someone have trouble? There are a number of reasons. They may be using the sound synthesizer or MIDI device for a different purpose. They may have software installation problems, due to hardware incompatibility with the software version that they are running.

But let us explore just one case. I know several visual impaired individuals that use computers every day. To assist them in their work, they use “Adaptive Technology” in their computer that can READ what is displayed on their screen, or on a web page. Having background music playing over the narrative often forces them to restart the automatic reader. In other times, neither sound works. When you consider how much time and trouble that you have to make software corrections on your computer, just think how difficult it would be, wearing a blind fold.

So when you visit a page at LionWAP, enjoy the sound after hitting “ < “ PLAY.
