    1. How do I upload Photos to my LionWAP page? - Top

To upload a picture, just go to upload.lionwap.org

Simply click on the BROWSE button and search your local computer for the proper folder where your photos are stored.

The Upload photo section allows you to upload to one of ten photo pages in your photo album.  Be sure  to Click on the radio button next to the Photo Album Page that you wish to upload too. If you select a page that already has a photo, it will be overwritten.

Type in the USERNAME for your page, then the PASSWORD; and click on UPLOAD.

    2. How large can my photos be? - Top

The file size limit is 50K. If your photo fails to UPLOAD, then you should check the size of your photo first.

But let's consider how large the photo would appear on your web page. Most people have their screen set to 800 X 600 resolution. When they view a web page, there will be about 600 X 400 of space showing a part of your page. To see a whole photo and a caption, a photo should have a maximum width or height of about 400 pixels. Be sure to retain the Aspect Ration of your photo when you resize it.

Most scanners and digital cameras come with photo software. You will have to review the instructions that came with that software on how to RESIZE your picture. Most of these programs also inform you what the new file size is, once it has been resized. If resizing does not make the file size small enough, you really should resize from the original, instead of resizing again and again.

    4. My photo will not upload, what's wrong? - Top

Here are some of the things that can go wrong.

    1. The file size must be smaller then 50K.

    2. The file type must be GIF or JPG.

    3. The file name on your computer must not have any spaces in it. So Officer Induction.jpg should be renamed to OfficerInduction.jpg before trying to upload it.

    4. You forgot the password or username. Don't forget, your Club's web page address has your username in it. Please do not hesitate to ask about your password.

    5. What do they mean by File Type? - Top

The internet uses several graphic file types for web pages. LionWAP has been designed to use the two most popular. The GIF file type is a traditional standard that almost all computers can display correctly. This is the so-called CompuServe standard. The GIF file type is limited to use a 256 color palate, and sometimes displays differently on different computers. The JPG file type was specifically designed for use on the internet. It uses the "millions of colors" standard; and is most popular with newer scanners and cameras.  - Updated: November 1, 2001

    8. How can I link to my Photo Album? - Top

You can simply provide a link to your photo album by adding this simple HTML code to end of the Activities or Announcements field:

    Photo Album :

    <p><b><u><font size="+1">Photo Album:</font></u></b></p>
    <li><a href="http://myalbum.lionwap.org/?username=username">Our Photo Album</a>

    9. How do I tell people about my photos? - Top

It is best if the photos are shown directly on your web page, or as a link to your photo album at the web page. That way, you can simply tell people the web page address of your club at LionWAP. That never changes, so just remind people of that address is in your announcement when new photos are available.

The resolution of photos that are shown on the internet are not a high enough quality to show in a newspaper or other printed material. Do not expect your local press to accept your photos directly from your website.

If you do not tell people that your website has changed, they have no reason to look. You can create more interest in your club's web page by telling them about it. Once the fever has taken, you will still have to keep the interest up, by adding or changing another photos and telling them again. After a while, you will discover that there is a great deal of interest in your club, as well as your web page project.

Pride is not built on a fading memory, but a reminder of what has been accomplished. Don't keep it a secret.
