| Subject | Volunteers Needed to Walk for Water |
| Comment | My name is Carly and I am part of the WaterWise program for the Township of Langley partnered with the Langley Environmental Partners Society. We are looking for volunteers to help us out this summer in July and August as WaterWise technicians talk to Walnut Grove residents about water conservation. WaterWise is an outreach program that provides the public with educational and practical tools to help reduce water use. We will be going door to door in Walnut Grove and asking residents to join our new ONE (our new environment) conservation challenge. By joining the challenge, residents pledge that they will water their lawn for one hour once a week or less. There has been a steady decline of groundwater levels in Langley and this new challenge specifically targets lawn sprinkling as this accounts for 40% of outdoor water usage in the summer. There will be a training session in July for volunteers as well. As well, we would love to do a presentation about WaterWise if at all possible. Please let me know of anyone would be interested in volunteering with us. Thanks, Carly |

| Comment | Just wanted your Club to know that the $500.00 Bursury awarded to my son in Comox B.C. by the Lion,s Club in 1982/83 for grade 12...may seem small but the support & trust that it really gave my son (Darcy Soles) stayed with him through University & B.C.I.T. where he took top honors in 1993.....he is now in Fort McMurray over seeing hundreds of workers as a CAD computer designer...has a wonderful family....I know you give out thousands of Bursuries but wanted you to know that your faith went a long way in guiding him to where he is today in terms of being a provider, father, son & husband...many thanks and I,m sure there are thousands just like him that become busy and you never know how well they are doing....from his mother Carole Christie [replied 23July08] |
