SubjectHello members of Mission Beach Lions Club
CommentA very special hello to the members of the Mission Beach Lions Club. You have a special place in my heart and always will.

It is very pleasing to see that you have a web site and a very good one at that, which I accidently found through a link off a UK site.

I first joined Lions in Tully in 1976, then as a resident of Wongaling Beach, I saw the need for a club to cover all the beaches that make up the Mission Beach area.

I was fortunate (and honoured) to be elected as the charter President for the first two years of the club which had a fantastic bunch of people as it's members.

Boy did we have a lot of fun in those early days, especially on the Progressive Dinners in aid of our Miss Personality entrants and the club visitations to Tully, Cardwell, Ingham and Halifax Lions Clubs where I was the designated Bus driver.

I managed to fly back home (yes it will always be classed as home for me, especially being born and bred in Innisfail) for your 20th anniversary, I hope that I can make it for your 25th and 30th celebrations too.

It was also nice to see photos of DG Aussie Lanphier on your site, I was a member of the Townsville Castle Hill Club for a few years when Aussie was a member there.

I am currently a member of the Palmwoods/Woombye Lion club http://palmwoodswoombyeau.lionwap.org/ who have their own club house (the old school at Chevellam, and we have the CWA cater for our meals) which is approximately 15 minutes west of Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast.

Sherril and I send our very best regards to you all and hope to be back for a visit in the not too distant future. We now live in the beautiful little town of Montville in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland where we own a small restaurant.
