I spoke with you about 3 months ago regarding our extended planned rubber duckie fund raiser. You requested the results of this event. I would like to share some of our experiences.
Great day 80° We had 36 vendors which consisted of food, concessions, games, demonstrations and rides from a carnival. Radio stations donated over $8,000.00 in advertisements. We produced wooden duck signs throughout the town. A major auto dealer sponsored their own race of 200 ducks at $5.00 per duck. We had a sky diver who jumped 3 times during the event. The event lasted 7 hours. We ran 6 races, and gave away 100 table top prizes, 8 meal certificates, two color flat screen TV's and $850.00 in cash in our last race.
A local singer donated 7 hours of his time. The turn out was light but we managed to generate over $5,000.00. We cleared over $3,000.00 Not bad for our first year. The proceeds will go towards the John Hopkins Hospital Wilmer Eye Instatute of Baltimore, Maryland and to the Elkton community.
Our finish line made of wood, got a little hairy when we discovered the stream we were using raised over 8". We had ducks in one race all over the place!!
With the help of the local Leo Club, we were able to capture all of the ducks.
Great day was had by all. Looking forward to repeating it again next year. If you plan to have a race, I will be glad to answer any questions that your club may have.
