Subjectwheelchairs for the disabled
CommentDear

My name is Craig Johnson. I am a Physical Therapist living here in Mesa. I will be traveling to Ukraine with Joni and Friends Wheels for the World, to fit the disabled with wheelchairs. The Wheels for the World Program supplies restored, previously owned wheelchairs to persons with disabilities around the world. Used manual wheelchairs are collected through volunteer-run wheelchair collection efforts and drives across the USA. They are then restored at one of 20 correctional facilities in various regions of the country. Once they are restored, they are distributed in countries by volunteer disability specialists and support team members who fit the chairs to each individuals needs.
It hard to believe, but in developing countries the cost of a wheelchair can exceed a years salary. The gift of a wheelchair gives the joys of mobility and independence, and helps to bring dignity, hope, and freedom to the disabled.
As I mentioned earlier. I am volunteering to travel to Ukraine as a wheelchair seating specialist. All volunteers are required to raise their own funds to cover the expenses of the trip. This is only possible with the help of those in the community with a compassion for the disabled. The trip is in September 2009. I must raise $3500 by mid July. If there is any way that your organization would be willing to help, it would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Craig Johnson PT

SubjectSpeaker from L.E.A.P. discussing failed drug polic
CommentA speaker from L. E. A. P. would like to discuss our nation's failed drug policy. These guys and gals were on the front lines of our war against illegal drugs. They know from personal experience, that our current policies are not working.

They would like the opportunity to speak with Lions Club members to discuss alternative to our current drug war.

SubjectDreamcatchers Lions meeting location
CommentHello, I was hoping to visit your club but was disappointed to discover the Alaska Bistro is closed. There is no new information on your web site as to where you are currently meeting. I hope all is going well for your club. Perhaps I'll see you sometime next month when I'm back in Mesa.

SubjectLEAP member speaking at Lions Club meeting
Comment
Tony Ryan, a retired police officer and 36 year member of the Denver Police Department would like to be the guest speaker for one of your Lions Club meetings. Tony is a member of
LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition).

Four years ago, LEAP didn't exist. Today they have 4,500 members who were or are current "drug warriors" (law enforcement personnel, DEA agents, judges and prosecutors).

Tony winters in Arizona from January through March. If these dates
are already booked, we can find another LEAP member to speak to
at your meetings after March.

For more info on LEAP please go to their web site
at: www.leap.cc

Best regards,
