| Subject | assistance question |
| Comment | My grandfather Has R/A and cannot afford a wheelchair, and don't think his coverage pays for one. Is there a way to find out a way of getting him one without paying heavily out of pocket? Thanks for reading. Joe |

| Subject | Johnston Lions Club Presentation |
| Comment | Hello my name is Brett Martin. I am with the Narragansett Council, Learning For Life, which is a division of the Boy Scouts of America. I am contacting you with the hope of being able to give a presentation to the Lions Club to explain the Learning For Life program and to ask for some financial support. We service many school youth within the community. These schools and youth do not always the financial capability for such needed programs within their school and communities. That is why we are asking for the opportunity to inform the Lions about the Learning For Life program and what it does for our youth. I thank you for your time with my request. I can be contacted by phone at 401-351-8700 Ext. 322., fax at 401-351-5515 and e-mail at bmartin@narragansettbsa.org. Thank you. http://www.learning-for-life.org Sincerely, Brett Martin LFL Executive Narragansett Council, BSA |

| Subject | The American Red Cross would like the opportunity |
| Comment | Since January first, the American Red Cross of Rhode Island volunteers have provided emergency food, clothing and shelter to more than 80 Rhode Islanders, who have been displaced as the result of a house fire. While winter is traditionally the busiest time of year for fire-related emergencies, the past few weeks have been a particularly challenging. All of this assistance is provided by the Red Cross free of charge, but we typically spend between $500 and $1,000 per family we assist and must raise the money to provide emergency services when Rhode Islanders need it most. I am writing to find out if there is an opportunity for the Red Cross to come to a Lions Club meeting and share with your members the important work the Red Cross is doing in your community and ways your organization can support the Red Cross. We look forward to hearing from you. | Subject | Scholarships |
| Comment | My daughter is in eleventh grade and she would like to find out what steps to take to enable her to partipate in your scholarship program. Could you give some information or phone numbers, or possibly elaborate in respect to the above mentioned. Her name is Tessa Trinidad. She enjoys the high school at Johnston, R.I. and is a Majorette for the high school. She was the 1986 Queen in the Dallas Baby Pageant in her age division, and Imperial Miss Denton County 1987, she has seven trophy's from Kids of America Beauty Pageants, would like to go to college to become a doctor. She is paying for her own car, her own insurance, has no brothers or sisters, and also is in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters club at Johnston High School. I feel she has shown acceptional responsibility because she had to change schools twice within two years, due to her fathers working at Tyco and relocating. It was tough, but she hit the books and has made her goal her first priority. Someday she wants to have a house full of children, but wants to pursue the goal of being a doctor first. Is it possible you would consider her a candidate to apply? Thank you. Any help you could give her would be greatly appreciated by our family. Our phone number is 401/383-7290. Thank you for your help and time. |
