| Comment | Good morning, I am a friend of the Hayles family. They have two children with cystic fibrosis. One is really sick. We are trying to get them into their home that they purchased in Abita Springs after losing their lifetime home in Metairie but ran out of money before completing. We are looking for a driveway. This will get the finishers in to complete the work on the double wide trailer. We have others who want to help build a ramp and maybe some yard work. It is just some rocks for a driveway that is keeping Lexie in the hospital. She could go home with IVs and nurses if she can get this done. I posted the following as on Craigslist to see if anyone can help and I am writing to charitable organizations to see what can be done. She went into Children's the day after Thanksgiving and has only been outside once to ride on a float in the parade that went by the hospital. She took her respitoray therapist with her. | Subject | Assistance to buy used van for electric wheelchair |
| Comment | My husband is 43 years old and disabled with Arthritis. He has been in and out of a wheelchair for about 6 years now. His joints have become so flared up using the wheelchair that we had to consider an electric wheelchair for him. He has been depressed in the house for about 3 years now because getting out was no easy task for him/us. The bank took back our van last year after we went bankrupt because my husband was fired due to his disability. The will never admit that. Anyway, when we did use the wheelchair it was on a bike rack on the back of my 94 Toyolta Corolla. In fact, that is how we evacuated and with the grace of God. We have finally got past the red tape with insurance to provide him with this electric wheelchair which is supposed to be delivered to our home tomorrow. We have $4,000 to find a van that will need a lift. A good friend told me to contact the Lions Club to see if anyone could help us out? Please contact me at 457-0087. Thanks. |
