SubjectFeast of the Seven Fishes
CommentHi there!

My name is Christina and I am the PR Manager for Respond2 Communications, an advertising company out of Portland, Oregon, that is looking for partners in our upcoming Feast of the Seven Fishes tour this December.

We will be moving through Cleveland, Philly, New York, Providence and Boston between Dec. 9-15, and stopping in your hometown on Friday, Dec. 14. We hear that Providence has some of the best Italian's this side of the pond and we certainly don't want to miss out!

We were hoping to see if your chapter of Lion's would be interested in working with us to set up our very own Feast of the Seven Fishes for your community. We'd love to try and get food items donated (we already have a few companies helping out already), and have your members help in the procurement of a place to hold the event and people to help cook it. We will take care of all the publicity. We could charge $5 a head or something to get in, with all proceeds from the event can go to the Lions' charity of choice.

It might also be fun to have Bob Tinnell, the author of the book, talk for a few minutes during the dinner, and perhaps throw some of his cartoon strips up onto the projector and tell everyone a bit about the history of this special Feast of the Seven Fishes, and why it is important for every Italian family to continue to celebrate it today. Then, after the dinner, we could do a signing and offer some biscotti and coffee to your members.

This book is being turned into a movie that will be released around Thanksgiving 2008.

In short, we’d like to be a part of your community—more specifically, we’d like to help you raise money for a charity of your choice, while also raising awareness about our tour.

Please do e-mail myself with any questions—I am more than happy to send a copy of the book out your way!

Thank you so much for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers,
Christina

SubjectEye Screening for elderly
CommentDear Sir:
I am a Nurse currently doing a clinical rotation at the Dominca Apartments in Federal Hill. As you know, They Dominca is a large hi-rise apartment that houses many elderly folks with very limited financial resources and poor healthcare. I was wondering if there is any chance that your organization could accomodate them with a visit from the eyemobile to do some vision screenings ? My family and self are active members in the Hyde Park Lions in Mass and they recommended I get in touch with the local Lions that serve the area. I would be happy to take responsibility for getting the nurses to do BP's and weights and assist with the process in any way. Also, if it is not possible to access the eyemobile this year, could this group be put on the list for next year? Are there any alternative community programs that bring vision screening equipment in RI?

Many Thanks!!

SubjectThe American Red Cross would like the opportunity
CommentSince January first, the American Red Cross of Rhode Island volunteers have provided emergency food, clothing and shelter to more than 80 Rhode Islanders, who have been displaced as the result of a house fire. While winter is traditionally the busiest time of year for fire-related emergencies, the past few weeks have been a particularly challenging. All of this assistance is provided by the Red Cross free of charge, but we typically spend between $500 and $1,000 per family we assist and must raise the money to provide emergency services when Rhode Islanders need it most.

I am writing to find out if there is an opportunity for the Red Cross to come to a Lions Club meeting and share with your members the important work the Red Cross is doing in your community and ways your organization can support the Red Cross.

We look forward to hearing from you.
