SubjectLions Club Carnival
CommentThis is the second year running that we only found out about the Lions Club Carnival because we happened to drive by. Why don't you notify the newspapers and radio stations, and post it on your website? The community pages give free advertising for local events, especially fund-raisers.

This year I was really frustrated because once I saw the rides going up, and the sign that said June 17-20, I searched all the papers and everywhere online to see if I could see the *hours* of the carnival, but I had no luck. It's a 40 minute round trip for us to drive in for this event. I'd like to be sure the carnival is open before I get my kids excited and into the car. I'm sure you'd have a lot more people attending if you took the simple step of advertising.

SubjectKeep up the good work
CommentHi there folks, I am so proud to be part of the Lions family. The Smiths Falls Lions Club has helped me so much, and I know how much they have done for the community. I can't wait to get back there and help them in their cause.

SubjectThe Blind
CommentI am writing to Betty Laronde,President, because members of our Smiths Falls Royal Canadian Legion & President, Wayne Wood, Kingston & Vice President, Bob Atkins, Kanata, from other Legions, suggested I contact someone who raises money for the Blind, ie (Lions Club/CNIB)to see if you would be interested in having a young speaker by the name of Kurtis Dolezsar, from SFDCI,a grade 11,honor student, give his winning speech on the Blind. These people, & others from our town of Smiths Falls who have heard Kurtis' speech feel strongly that you might like to invite members of your Club, members from the CNIB, maybe even our town mayor, Mr. Staples, who takes a great interest in the achievements of students but of course that would be entirely your decision. Kurtis Dolezsar has won 1st place for 4 levels and will be competing one more time on Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 110, in Trenton, Ontario, 19 Quinte Street (613-392-0331)at 1pm, at the Provincial Level. If you think any one from the Lions Club or the CNIB in Trenton Ontario would like to attend this event please invite them because anything that we can do to help the blind would be an honor. My mom was legally blind for approx. the last 10 years of her life. If you do have interested members in Trenton & you prefer I contact them myself that is ok too! I'd appreciate their name and number. Last year you had my daughter, Dana Dolezsar come & speak on the brain because she took 2nd place in the finals for the Lions Club. If you are interested in having Kurtis come and speak at your club on the blind please call or write me....thank you, Maureen Dolezsar 284-0704

SubjectCrown & anchor wheel
CommentI was doing a google search for plans to build a crown and anchor wheel and your club came up. Did you build yours or buy it and if so where did you purchase it? I am a 20 year member of the Kennebecasis Lions Club serving Rothesay New Brunswick. We would be interested in buying or even building one if we had some good plans. Any information you could offer would be appreciated. Thanks Lion Bruce

SubjectCrown & Anchor Game
CommentDear Smiths Falls Lions Club: It has come to my attention that your club owns a Crown & Anchor Wheel Game. Our Chesterville Lions Club are putting on for the first time a "FAMILY FUN DAY" event next June 10th/2006 which is a Saturday and I would like to know if it would be possible for us to borrow or rent the wheel from your club for the day.Could someone in your club get back to me on this matter as if we cannot get one from your club we will have to make other arrangments. Thank You very much...Lion Barry Lajoie Vice President Chesterville Lions Club..E-mail me at barmar1@personainternet.com or call me at home at (613)448-2911 Thank You
