CommentMy father, Gus Doering, was an active member of the Valley Park Lions back in the 1940's and 1950's. I am sure you will find his name in your records.

I remember as a child spending many weekends at the old log club house, going to the Lions Carnival and being in the parades. In addition to being club president at one time, my dad was a parade organizer of considerable reputation and arranged the parades for several Lions groups in addition to Valley Park.

With respect to the Lions Club building I always remember how deceptively small it looked from the outside, but significantly larger once inside. Even though it has been probably 45-50 years since I was last in the building, I can remember most every detail from the side bar with the men's bathroom behind it to the meeting area with the elevated stage and storage below, the kitchen on the side flanked by the ladies bathroom. It is such a shame that a landmark such as it was lost.

CommentDid the building survive the flood? When does clean up begin? I called and left my name and number but have not heard anything. We are ready willing and able to help. We want to get the club up and running again We need our Sunday Breakfast fix!!:)
